OHV Ultimate Tech Rite Gauge Set-Up Assembly Instructions
1. Remove 3 nuts holding mounting bolts in legs and discard.
2. Remove the 4 dial indicators from boxes, unscrew and discard all the OEM contact points.
3. Insert two rear (lower base) indicators with gauges facing right toward the pointer mounting hole, hold in place and tighten mounting setscrews. (Gauge faces should be facing the PTO end of the crankshaft.)
4. After securing the rear lower indicators, install the 90 degree contact points so the threaded pins are facing
toward each other. Hold contact point in place while tightening small cap screws with light pressure.
Note: When using the tool, both 90degree contact points are to rest on top of the retainers and below the rocker arm tips. The 90 degree retainer contact point should not touch the rocker arm during use.
5. Next attach indicator into the base over the push rods.
Note: You may want to cut the mounting tabs off the back of indicators to position gauge faces in a more parallel position.
6. Install extension rod on to the tower indicator. Place the indicator into bore and tighten setscrew.
When installing the assembled Ultra Tech Rite on to engine, hold the tool at a 45 degree angle in order to position the 90 degree contact points between the rocker arm and on top of the retainers. Once locating the retainer contact points, slowly rotate the tool to align mounting posts on top plate.
Tighten center bolt (which might be metric) a few turns, snug up the two other 1/4 - 20 cap screws.
Finish tightening in a crisscross pattern. (The metric center bolt must be used on the newer engines.)
A dead stop (piston stop) bolt is needed to zero in degree wheel!
Rockers On: Test valve timing, lash adjustment and rocker arm ratio calculations.
Rockers Off: Cam Profile Check
